2012 Mock Draft Picks 11-20

Story by @Chanceb007

Picks 11-20 reflect the meat of the draft. There are fewer Super Stars, but the heart of the first round. Players with a chip that felt they should have been a top 10 pick. Christian Ponder, JJ Watt, Jason Pierre-Paul, Brian Cushing, Joe Flacco, Patrick Willis, Haloti Ngata, DeMarcus Ware all come from this area of the first round. Who will be next?

11. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS – Jonathan Martin – OT – Stanford Cardinal
The Chiefs and their 31st ranked offense will get a boost with the return of Jammal Charles. Drafting Jonathan Martain the 6’6″ 305lb All-American ,and 1st Team All-Pac12 offensive tackle. Will allow Brandon Albers to move to his natural guard position. New Head Coach Romeo Crennel will start making changes on Defense when he gets the offense stabilised, Matt Cassell is on notice.

12. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS – Courtney Upshaw – OLB – Alabama Crimson Tide
The Seahawks were decimated on their O-line, Russell Okung, John Moffit and, James Carpenter were all IR’d. With the return of those 3 it should help the passing game. Defensive End Chris Clemons had 11 sacks, so pressure was being provided. Earl Thomas and Brandon Browner made the Pro Bowl. The Seahawks are in need of LB talent that 6’2″ 265lb All-American linebacker and, 1st Team All-SEC, Courtney Upshaw with his 8.5 sacks would provide.

13. ARIZONA CARDINALS – Quinton Coples – DE – North Carolina Tar Heels
Calais Campbell does not look to be returning. The Cardinals are in need of a pass rushing presents. Quinton Coples 6’6″ 281 lbs 2010 and 2011 1st Team All-ACC defensive end. He had 59 tkls 15.5 tfl and 10 sacks his Jr. year. He followed that up with 55 tkl 15 tfl and 7.5 sacks his Sr. year. The question has been asked why did his production go down? Is he lazy? I’m gonna guess maybe opposing coaches realized stopping him was important. He had an outstanding Senior Bowl, so hopefully he silenced the critics. Coples comes from a long line of Tar Heel pass rushers; Vonnie Holliday, Greg Ellis, Ebenezer Ekuban, Julius Peppers, Kentwan Balmer, Robert Quinn, and the Ultimate pass rusher HOFer Lawrence Taylor. Arizona has other needs, but Coples is the best player available and will fill one of those needs.

14. DALLAS COWBOYS – Janoris Jenkins – CB – North Alabama Lions
The Cowboys went into last season with 3 CB on the roster.(They added CBs though the season) I’ll mind you they had 2 place kickers, Dan Bailey, and David Buehler. I guess Jerry felt it more important to kick off and kick field goals, then to cover receivers. Janoris Jenkins 5’10” 183lbs. Jenkins was only the 2nd true Freshman to start on opening day at the University of Florida in school history. He played opposite Joe Haden on the 08′ National Championship team. Janoris was 1st arrested in May ’09 for fighting,June ’09 for fighting and resisting arrest, an altercation for which the police tasered him. January of ’11 arrested for marijuana possession, final April 23rd again for marijuana possession. On April 26th the U of F dismissed him from the campus. North Alabama Head Coach Terry Bowden scooped him up the next day. despite his past, the Cowboys aren’t above taking playmakers over character.

15. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES – Luke Kuechly – ILB – Boston College Eagles
Luke Kuechly had 532 tackles in his 3 year career at Boston College 191 tackles his final season. I’ll say it again, one hundred ninety one tackles!! Kuechly won the Butkus Award, Ronnie Lott Impact Award,Lombardi Award, and the Bronko Nagurski Award for the Nations most outstanding defensive player. Luke is a two-time 1st Team All-American, and All-ACC Linebacker. He has my permission to marry my daughter! LOL! With the The Eagles failed attempt with Casey Matthews, they are looking to solidify their linebacker corp. This should give Juan Castillo piece of mind.

16. NEW YORK JETS – Nick Perry – OLB/DE – USC Trojans
Bart Scott has left the building, with his middle finger and all. The Jets generated a total of 35 sacks. Aaron Maybin lead the team in sacks with 6. For a team that try to be the intimidators that’s pretty sad. Maybe they should focus less on locker room justice and more on field performance. Nick Perry 6’3″ 250lbs 1st Team All-PAC 12 DE had 54 tkls 13 tfl and 9.5 sacks. Perry was a Detroit, MI. King High School First Team Parade All-American DE. Nick is forgoing his Senior season to enter the NFL Draft despite only starting 10 games.

17. CINCINNATI BENGALS – Dre Kirkpatrick – CB – Alabama Crimson Tide
Nate Clemons has lost a step, Adam Jones isn’t an answer. With their 1st of 2 first round picks the Bengals will try to replace Pro Bowl corner Jonathan Joseph. 2nd Team All-American as well as 2nd Team All-SEC defensive back 6’3″ 192lb D’Andra “Dre” Kirkpatrick. A member of the Crimson Tide 2009 National Championship team, and a starter for Bamas 2011 National Championship team. A 2009 US Army All-American Bowl participant in High School. Dre’s Gadsden City High School Titans won the AL. 6A State Championship in his Jr. year. On January 17th 2012 Kirkpatrick was arrested on marijuana charges, those charges were dropped February 6th 2012.

18. SAN DIEGO CHARGERS – Dont’a Hightower – ILB – Alabama Crimson Tide
Takeo Spikes will be going into his 15th season. San Diego would like an upgrade at the inside backer position. Dont’a Hightower 6’4″ 260lbs had 85 tkls and 4 sacks his Jr. season for the National Champion Crimson Tide. A 1st Team All-American, and 1st Team All-SEC LB. Dont’a started at ILB as a true freshman in ’08 playing “WILL” backer next to “Mike” backer Rolando McClain (1st rd 8th pick to Oakland in the 2010 NFLDraft). In 2009, his Soph. year he tore his ACL in the seasons 4th game vs. Arkansas. Didn’t play in Alabama’s National Championship vs. Texas. He was a US Army All-American in High School. Was voted Tennessee’s “Mr. Football” Lineman of the Year and Defensive MVP at Marshall County High School in Lewisburgh,TN. Hightower played TE as well ,and had 875 receiving yards with 19TD.

19. CHICAGO BEARS – Cordy Glenn – OG/OT – Georgia Bulldogs
The Bears are in need of a WR. Won’t matter much if Jay Cutler doesn’t have the time. Worse yet suffers another injury. Mike Tice was given the task of protecting Cutler. GM Phil Emery will oblige Tice and replace J’Marcus Webb by drafting 6’6″ 346lb Cordy Glenn from Georgia. The Bulldog has the skills to play OT in the NFL and the attitude to go with it. Glenn had an outstanding Senior Bowl, and with the Combine should help him be the 4th O-lineman drafted. Corby was a 1st Team All-American Guard in 2010, 3rd Team All-American Tackle in 2011.

20. TENNESSE TITANS – Whitney Mercilus – DE – Illinois Fighting Illini
With the Titans entire Defensive only able to get 28 sacks, only 6 more than Jared Allen did by himself. Tennessee is almost certain to lose Cortland Finnegan from the secondary, but a consistent pass rush would go a long way in healing that wound. Whitney Mercilus 6’4″ 265 lbs lead the Nation with 16 sacks. Won the Ted Hendricks Award (the Nations top Defensive End), Bill Willis Award (top Defensive lineman), and the Collage Football Performance Award CFPA for Defensive Performer of the Year. 1st Team All-American, 1st Team All-Big 10.
